Data agency as a force for food system redesign

Redesigning food systems to be a force for sustainable, equitable outcomes for humanity and the planet will require timely, data-driven analysis to help guide action and measure progress, complemented by targeted digital services that can help effect the needed changes. We must get data agency right for an array of owners and subjects to navigate this challenge.

There has been a significant erosion of public trust in recent years regarding responsible access to and use of individuals’ data, giving rise to an array of initiatives to protect restricted data while supporting the agency of data owners.    In this session we will look at three such efforts—by no means exhaustive—and examine what approaches appear fit-for-purpose for supporting the transformations we seek to effect in food systems.
