Towards a sector architecture for digital food systems innovation
The diversity of initiatives in the landscape demonstrates that public, private, and non-profit actors all have a role to play in sourcing, fostering, and scaling potentially world-changing digital innovations in food systems. It can nevertheless be a challenge to build the right linkages, balance the need for bespoke systems with more general data and information needs, and accelerate promising solutions on a path to scale.
Digital initiatives in the food systems space are rightly focusing on the needs of their stakeholders, the changes they seek to effect, and the impact they seek to have. In the context of a single organization, a guiding architecture vision can help to align or rationalize investments in light of what the organization aims to achieve. Transforming food systems requires broader framing. As we look at global goals, how can we create such a guiding information vision for multiple stakeholders? How can such ‘architecture logic’ be applied to align investments across organizations and accelerate progress in our sector?
